Southampton Football Club took part in this season (2010/11) Football Industry’s National Week of Action to Kick Racism out of Football and to demonstrate the Club’s commitment to operating a zero tolerance to incidents of this nature at St Mary’s Stadium.
This fixture against Oldham Athletic was the Club’s designated Kick It Out game and the players wore campaign t-shirts during the pre match warm to demonstrate their support. The celebration of a multi cultural society also linked in with the Southampton City’s Black History Month initiative which recognised the wealth of contribution to our community by people from a black and African background.
The National campaign compliments with the Club’s Racism Just Ain’t Saintly campaign. Operating throughout the year the campaign includes the annual Community Cohesion Cup tournament with over 20 adult teams taking part in this years competition representing over 12 different nationalities. The winners of this year’s tournament were Southern Stars who were re-presented with their trophy at the Oldham game by the RJAS ambassador Reuben Agboola.
