The Saints Foundation continues its ambition to raise funds for charitable causes with 20 employees from both the Saints Foundation and Southampton Football Club biking 63 miles from St Marys Stadium to the Withdean Stadium in Brighton on Saturday 23rd April 2011 the day of the Brighton v Saints fixture.
The target is to raise £5000 for the Saints Foundation’s disability programme and Southampton FC Chairman and Saints Ambassador Nicola Cortese has set the challenge to bike the journey himself if the target is reached!
Nicola explained, “The staff have shown tremendous commitment to take on this challenge. It shows the belief they have in the Foundation’s work and I know they are training hard to ensure they complete the ride. I am scheduled to be out of the Country on 23rd April, but if the target can be reached, I will be returning early specifically for the event and look forward to joining the staff team.”
Saints Foundation Ambassador Iwan Thomas has also committed to the ride and commented, “I'm pleased to be supporting the event, I’m running the London Marathon 7 days before and all being well I look forward to a 63 mile ride for what is a great cause.”
