SaintsAbililty, the Saints Foundations coaching programme for young people and adults with disabilities will be sending a squad of players to Barcelona to compete in a four team tournament in September 2011. The chance of a lifetime has been made possible through the generous donations from Saints fans since the introduction of the Saints Foundation in July 2010 and the team (pictured) can’t wait to board the plane.
Gary Loveridge (Saints Disability Officer) explained, “The programme continues to be very popular with over 160 young people and adults taking part each week. We compete at local festivals around Hampshire and IOW each year but Barcelona sets the bar higher than ever. Football creates so many opportunities and benefits outside the game itself; and the team, parents and coaches are really looking forward to the trip.”
The Foundation’s first overseas trip departs on 23rd September, and the four day trip sees the Saints team compete against teams from Spain and Italy and includes a visit to the spectacular Nou Camp Stadium as well as visitor attractions around the city.
The disability programme relies on grants and donations to fund the operating costs throughout the year, if you would like to support our young people and adults with disabilities click here.
