Fans return from Kenya

Our fellow fans have now returned from Kenya, full of stories and memories ready to share on their amazing experience out there…..they took on building, painting, digging and much more, making great friendships with their fellow participants as well as those at the schools and projects themselves.

Fans have been fundraising for the past 11 months to support the trip costs and also raise funds for the Saints Foundation disability programme based in Southampton and the surrounding area. As well as the time they spent working with community projects in developing areas of Kenya, the trip also included a Kenya Safari and a visit to the Equator.

Trip participant and ardent Saints fan Rosemarie Robinson told us, “The trip was a great experience and quite a few of us want to go again to support our projects.  We met some amazing people, both adults and children.  The whole experience put our lives here into perspective, not just working in the slums and visiting pupil's homes, but seeing how people survive and try to better themselves living on a rubbish dump! The poverty was appalling, but the positive attitude and application of the slum school kids there, with little or no educational resources, would put most kids in the UK to shame.”

The expedition is just one of the many projects delivered by the Saints Foundation with the sole objective to make a difference and support disadvantage young people and vulnerable adults both home and abroad.

For regular updates on the first Kenya trip follow the Foundation on twitter @Foundation_SFC, a photo gallery will be coming soon. Plans are underway for the next Kenyan Adventure in 2012, if you would like to register your interest email foundation@saintsfc.co.uk or call 0845 6889370.
